Upanishads are Vedanta – the fountain of Indian philosophy. They embody the Guru-Shishya tradition and literally mean “sitting (sad) down (ni) near (upa)” the Guru. The principal Upanishads are 10 (or 13). These are the ones commented upon by our great Gurus, like Shankara & Ramanuja.
In this quiz we see how the principal Upanishads expound on the nature of reality (‘Brahm Satya Jagat Mithya’). The numbering of questions reflects the traditional sequence of the principal Upanishads, though the last two are the oldest.
Our quiz is inspired by the MPhil dissertation of Ms. Geeta Kulkarni, an Upanishad scholar, and also other sources. Our gratitude to her. We are novices in this ocean of wisdom and all errors are strictly our own.
